Instructor of record for Biol 0380: The Ecology and Evolution of Infectious Diseases.

Course enrollment was 75 students, ranging in major from premed to public health to political science to industrial design.

Course Learning Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• Describe the biology of numerous infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, malaria, HIV/AIDS, and the plague
• Apply the fundamentals of current ecological and evolutionary theory to infectious microbes and their hosts, with particular emphasis on epidemiology, population genetics, host/pathogen coevolution and zoonoses.
• Examine, interpret, and synthesize the peer-reviewed scientific literature.
• Create an original research poster that explores a pressing issue in the public health sphere over the course of the semester using concepts from class as well as ideas from other disciplines
